Technology Systems Manager

Description:

School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is inviting applications for the position of Technology Systems Manager.

We are looking for a professional, self-motivated individual with a strong focus on privacy and security.  The Technology Systems Manager will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of information technology in the School District.  School District No. 59 (Peace River South) serves 19 schools and facilities utilized by 3,500 students and 700 staff in the communities of Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge and rural areas.

Qualifications and requirements:

Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the area of computer and/or network support.

  • Computer Science Degree or equivalent certification.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to read and understand computer setup and operations manuals.
  • Proficient with setup and maintenance of local area and wide area networking with an understanding of BGP and OSPF.
  • Proven ability to trouble shoot computer, server and network problems in a systematic and timely fashion.
  • Proven ability to work with the following technologies:  Windows Server, Cent OS, Open VMS, Mac OS, iOS, Windows, Palo Alto Firewalls, Aruba Wireless Access Points, Active Directory, Munki, SCCM, Apache, VMWare, Office 365, ADFS, Veeam.
  • Proven ability to do maintenance and develop software code with the following technologies:  PHP, SQL, Drupal 8, CodeIgnitor, JQuery, Bootstrap, NodeJS, Bash.
  • Provden ability to consider privacy and security considerations with implementation of new projects and during day to day support.
  • Proven ability to recover systems and/or user data from backups.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to seek innovative solutions to problems.
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to make reasoned decisions.
  • High degree of discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to exercise considerable independent action in the performance of all duties.
  • Must possess and maintain a current B.C. Drivers License.

We are looking for a professional, self-motivated individual, who will be responsible for the delivery of the StrongStart program in two rural school settings, under the direction of the Early Learning Project Manager.  Successful candidates must have:

1. A current Early Childhood Educator License to practice in BC;

3. An ability to create, plan, implement and budget for a parent participation early learning program;

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills;

6. An understanding of, and a commitment to, quality early learning;

7. Ability to work effectively with a variety of parents, children, volunteers, professionals and community members;

8. Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, community resources and early learning;
