The Board Office requires one (1) temporary Speech-Language Assistant, 16.5 hrs/wk (8:30 am - 2:30 pm - flexible days), effective January 6, 2020 until last day of classes, June 2020.
The successful applicant must have the following qualifications and experience:
-High School Diploma; AND
-Registration in a post-secondary rehabilitation therapy/speech-language pathology assistant/communicative disorders assistant certification program; OR
-Successful completion of the first year of a related therapy assistant program.
-Previous work experience in a school setting.
-Demonstrated ability to successfully engage with students.
-Demonstrated ability to apply new learning and skills to work with students.
-Demonstrated effective time-management skills.
-Demonstrated ability to relate to, and interact positively with, supervisors, colleagues and the population served.
-Demonstrated effective communication skills including appropriate use of oral and written language.
-Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records and documentation; committed to developing skills for documenting treatment plans and protocols accurately and concisely by working with the Speech-Language Pathologist and Speech-Language Technician.
-Committed to developing knowledge and skills of current evidence-based practices in the field of speech-language pathology by working with the Speech-Language Pathologist and Speech-Language Technician.
-Committed to developing therapy efficacy and knowledge by working with the Speech-Language pathologist and Speech-language Technician.
-Training and experience in the Reference & Regulate Intervention is an asset.
-Training and experience in a Phonological Awareness Intervention is an asset.
-Possession of a Class 5 Driver's License.
