Description:

The Board Office requires one (1) temporary Speech-Language Assistant, 16.5 hrs/wk (8:30 am - 2:30 pm - flexible days), effective January 6, 2020 until last day of classes, June 2020.

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications and experience:

-High School Diploma; AND



-Registration in a post-secondary rehabilitation therapy/speech-language pathology assistant/communicative disorders assistant certification program; OR

-Successful completion of the first year of a related therapy assistant program.

-Previous work experience in a school setting.

-Demonstrated ability to successfully engage with students.

-Demonstrated ability to apply new learning and skills to work with students.

-Demonstrated effective time-management skills.

StrongStart Outreach Facilitator (Devereaux Elementary School and McLeod Elementary School)

Description:

School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is inviting applications for the position of a StrongStart Outreach Facilitator (Devereaux Elementary School and McLeod Elementary School) effective January 6, 2020.  Schedule: 20 hrs per week, (8:00 am - 12:30 pm on Monday/Wednesday of each week and 8:00 am - 1:30 pm on Tuesday/Thursday of each week). We are looking for a professional, self-motivated individual, who will be responsible for the delivery of the StrongStart program in two rural school settings, under the direction of the Early Learning Project Manager.  Successful candidates must have:

1. A current Early Childhood Educator License to practice in BC;

2. A clear Criminal Record Review;

3. An ability to create, plan, implement and budget for a parent participation early learning program;

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills;

5. Good organizational and planning skills;

6. An understanding of, and a commitment to, quality early learning;

7. Ability to work effectively with a variety of parents, children, volunteers, professionals and community members;

8. Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, community resources and early learning;

9. Familiarity with BC StrongStart philosophy as outlined by the Ministry of Education at www.bced.gov.bc.ca/early_learning; and

10. A class 5 Driver's License and access to own vehicle.
