School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is inviting applications for the position of a StrongStart Outreach Facilitator (Devereaux Elementary School and McLeod Elementary School) effective immediately.  Schedule: 20 hrs per week, (8:00 am - 12:30 pm on Monday/Wednesday of each week and 8:00 am - 1:30 pm on Tuesday/Thursday of each week). We are looking for a professional, self-motivated individual, who will be responsible for the delivery of the StrongStart program in two rural school settings, under the direction of the Early Learning Project Manager.  Successful candidates must have:

1. A current Early Childhood Educator License to practice in BC;

2. A clear Criminal Record Review;

3. An ability to create, plan, implement and budget for a parent participation early learning program;

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills;

5. Good organizational and planning skills;

6. An understanding of, and a commitment to, quality early learning;

7. Ability to work effectively with a variety of parents, children, volunteers, professionals and community members;

8. Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, community resources and early learning;

9. Familiarity with BC StrongStart philosophy as outlined by the Ministry of Education at www.bced.gov.bc.ca/early_learning; and

10. A class 5 Driver's License and access to own vehicle.

Human Resources Officer

Description:

School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is seeking applications for the excluded position of Human Resources Officer. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the successful individual will provide leadership in supporting a wide range of human resource services related to the administration of personnel and labour relations for the district.  The position will be effective April 1, 2020.

THE POSITION

This is a full time excluded position. The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for assisting with:

  • Administration and interpretation of teacher and support staff collective agreements.
  • Collective bargaining.
  • Providing support and guidance to supervisors.
  • Coordinating and delivering orientation and staff development related to human resource functions to new employees and to administrators and managers.
  • Recruitment and selection.
  • Performing other related human resource duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of five (5) years leadership and administrative experience in a unionized setting.

  • Completion of a relevant university degree or equivalent post-secondary education in the human resource field is highly desired.
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to seek innovative solutions to problems.
  • Computer skills appropriate for the responsibilities and duties.
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills.
  • Proven abilities to establish and maintain effective work relationship and demonstrate skill and aptitude in dispute resolution.
  • Proven ability to make reasoned decisions.
  • High degree of discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Willingness and ability to face sensitive employee situations and take the appropriate action.
  • Ability to exercise considerable independent action in the performance of all duties.

Lesser qualified individuals may be considered.
